Goal setting is a great way to focus on a target or objective you want to achieve and gives you the motivation to affect that change within your daily routine. We often take the time to set food, fitness, or fashion goals but your hair needs some love, too. It’s time to make some hair resolutions to pursue your hair goals!

So, if you wish for luscious long locks, or if you want to help repair your strands from all the heat-styling and recent colouring, setting a hair goal is a great way to keep your routine fresh and set steps to healthy-looking hair.

As part of your SalonLab&Me consultation, your hairdresser will help you set hair goals and then recommend the most suitable products to help you achieve them. Let’s deep dive into one of the most common goals – Repair & Nourishment!

Hair Goal: Repair & Nourishment

We have all experienced some form of hair damage, from dryness and brittleness to split ends, frizz, and breakage. This makes Repair & Nourishment one of the most common hair goals for tackling fragile and damaged hair.

The best way to care for damaged hair really depends on the cause and type of damage. Discover the best repair routine for your hair with these tips from the SalonLab&Me experts…

What causes damaged hair?

Visible hair damage can occur when the structure of the hair is weakened by various factors, below are three of the main factors which can weaken the hair fibre and result in damage:

1.  Environmental influences such as air pollution and sun exposure

2. Physical influences such as using hot styling tools and excess brushing

3. Chemical influences from colouring and bleaching

All these influences can lead to the breaking of the different bonds present in the hair fibre. As a result, the hair fibre is weakened, and this can lead to irregular cuticle edges and cracks in the hair structure resulting in stiff and fragile hair which becomes prone to breakage.

How to identify damaged hair?

  • The hair surface feels rough, and it is difficult to comb or brush
  • The hair becomes hard to manage and tangles easily
  • The hair feels dry, brittle and straw-like
  • The hair has split ends

Can damage hair be repaired?

To a certain extent damaged hair can be repaired with caring products, such as deep conditioning hair masks which helps protect from further damage. However, if your hair already has a lot of breakage and split ends, it’s best to book in for a trim and start fresh to prevent the splits from moving further up your hair.

How to treat damaged hair

A haircut is not your only solution for repairing your damaged strands, there are a few ways you can help to repair the existing damage and prevent future damage for your hair:

  • To help repair outer hair damage, one way is to use a deep conditioning treatment such as the SalonLab&Me Intensive Hair Mask or leave-in conditioning treatment. It will smoothen the hair fibre, leading to healthy-looking, smoother, and shinier hair. Plus, deep conditioning treatments contain nourishing hair ingredients to strengthen hair while protecting against future damage.

  • Inner hair damage can be mitigated with care ingredients which reach deep into the hair and connect with the inner hair structure. Their strengthening effect leads to a reduction in hair breakage and split ends.

Our SalonLab&Me haircare ranges use our Triple Bonding Technology – which is based on 10 years of research - which helps to strengthen the hair structure from within. This advanced Bonding Technology features a trivalent-ion that builds new bonds through the creation of a 3-dimensional network inside the hair fibre, helping to improve hair quality.

SalonLab&Me products also contain C21 Technology, a highly effective conditioning technology that works on the hair's surface by using the biomimetic principle of lipid replenishment, your tailor-made range of SalonLab&Me products work to bring the cuticle closer to natural perfection for improved shine, manageability, and natural movement.
